In a previous post I told you we were starting work on our laundry soon. Well, soon has turned into now and the work has started. Remember this beauty of a room from one of my very first posts?
Hubs and his brother, let’s call him Brohemian Rapsibling, ripped up the floor last night so that the electrician and contractor can start their work in the next few days. Let’s see what they found, shall we??

I’m just going to sit here a while and stare at these pictures to try and figure out what sort of person would think ANY of what is going on here is justifiable. And also how I’m going to fix this to support a washer and a dryer…. Any ideas, short of a hovering washing machine, are welcome.

I am SO. SORRY. I am so sorry. Awful. Just awful. Sistering a 2×4 is a possible solution.
Thanks. I immediately thought of your ‘adventures’ and the massive steel sister you ended up putting in your floor. I think we’ll probably just reroute the plumbing and reinforce the joists with sistering. But, I think we’ll have to open up the ceiling below the bathroom to make sure the same disaster isn’t hiding there as well.
